The Marrakech International Film Festival has revealed the programme of its 23rd edition, set for 20 to 28 November 2026. The out-of-competition opening night will feature 'The Debut', directed by American filmmaker Jesse Eisenberg.

True to its identity, the official competition brings together 14 first and second features vying for the Étoile d'Or. Africa is prominently represented: 'Ben'Imana' by Rwanda's Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo, 'Congo Boy' by Central African filmmaker Rafiki Fariala, 'House of the Wind' by Cameroon's Auguste Bernard Kouemo Yanghu, Moroccan title 'Alkebulan' by Yassine Marco Marroccu and 'Chronicles From The Siege' by Abdallah Al-Khatib.

The line-up also reaches far beyond the continent, with 'Marie Madeleine' by Haiti's Gessica Généus, 'Sad Girlz' by Mexico's Fernanda Tovar, 'The World Before' by South Korea's Yoon Dan-bi, 'Furies' by Lebanon's Rami Kodeih and 'A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra' by Greece's Jacqueline Lentzou.

The jury is led by French actress Marion Cotillard, an Oscar winner for her portrayal of Édith Piaf. Outside the competition, the Horizons section offers 21 films, and the festival features 11 Moroccan productions in total, plus three films shot in Morocco. For emerging directors, Marrakech remains a valuable showcase for reaching international distributors and festivals.
